Angelic Music and the After-affects

Four years ago, L started playing the harp through a program from MPS. The student has to be in band or orchestra to qualify for the program. Once they get in high school, they are in a Harp Ensemble group. This group meets once a week for 1 1/2 hours to learn new music and practice. Monday was her first concert and the music was "angelic"! There are ten harpists that are led by Mrs. Miller.

They are divided into multiple groups that play different parts, kind of like in singing with Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.

One of my favorite songs of the night was "Mist". Here's just a taste of what I was able to enjoy.

I was very impressed with their performance and look forward to hearing them again.

This is where the fun comes in.

What happens when you have this...

Inside of this...

And you're unloading it from the back of this?

THIS!!!

L has loaded and unloaded this harp for years, almost completely by herself! But something went horribly wrong on Monday night. As soon as the harp case touched the ground, L had extreme stomach pain, followed by accute back pain. She continued on with her nightly duties (HOMEWORK!) as the pain continued to get worse. By 1:30 am, we were heading to Urgent Care, who sent us to the Emergency Room. There she was diagnosed with a brand new hernia and a strained back! She was seeming to get better, until yesterday afternoon when the pain came back worse than ever. After a miserable night last night, things have calmed down a bit today and she is forbidden to go to school (which she insisted on doing to most of her classes the past 2 days). She's hopefully on the mend again and trying not to think about all of the make-up homework that will follow. For now, it's rest, relaxation, and muscle relaxers!

**Diagnosis update: No hernia, no answers for the pain. We'll give it time.
